Kürtçe, (Kürtçe: Kurmanji), or North Kurdish, is a language spoken in parts of eastern Turkey, northern Iraq, northwestern Iran and southern Syria. It is a member of the northwestern Iranian group of the Indo-European language family. There are approximately 16 million native speakers of Kürtçe.
