Science Experiment Physics Lab App Overview and Details
In this experiment, you will investigate the relationship between the temperature of a liquid and the rate at which it evaporates.
You will need a thermometer, a timer or stopwatch, a large beaker or jar, and a hotplate. The beaker or jar should be at least twice the size of the thermometer.
Fill the beaker or jar with water and place it on the hotplate. Turn on the hotplate and wait for the water to reach a temperature of 100°C. Insert the thermometer into the water and record the temperature. Note the time.
Wait for the water to cool to room temperature. Repeat the experiment, this time recording the temperature every minute.
What is the relationship between the temperature of a liquid and the rate at which it evaporates?
What factors affect the rate of evaporation?
