Escoba is a fast-paced, competitive card game for two to four players. The object of the game is to score points by taking as many cards as possible from the table. The player who takes the last card from the table loses the game.
The game is played with a regular deck of 52 cards. The cards are ranked from high to low as follows: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. The Ace is high and the 2 is low.
The dealer shuffles the cards and deals 10 cards to each player, face down. The dealer then sets the remaining cards away, stacked face down. The face up card at the bottom of the deck is turned over to begin the turn.
The player to the dealers left starts the game. On a player’s turn they draw one card from the deck and play one. The Ace is high and the 2 is low. The Ace can be played as either a high or low card. The 4 card is also special. It can be used either as a 4 or as two 1s.
The cards that are played must be of the same rank or suit. For example, two Kings, two Queens, two Jacks, or two 10s. If a player cannot play a card, they draw one from the deck and play passes to the next player.
