The East African Community Treaty (EACTS) is a treaty that establishes the East African Community (EAC), a regional intergovernmental organization consisting of the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the Republic of South Sudan, the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Republic of Uganda. The EACTS was signed on 30 November 1999 in Arusha, Tanzania, and entered into force on 7 July 2000. The EACTS has since been amended twice, once in 2006 and again in 2010. The EACTS establishes the EAC as a customs union, a common market, and a monetary union.
